OCPL offers a variety of resources to help adults learn English and improve reading, writing and speaking skills.

These books will help you when you are learning about different jobs or improving your English skills for the workplace.

English Language Learning Kits

These books are best for independent study; they include an audio CD so you can hear the lessons spoken aloud.

Central Library

Books and audio/visual materials that help adults learn English and improve reading, writing and speaking skills are available for use or loan at the Central Library. See the Literacy section of the OCPL site for more resources. Literacy staff is available to orient customers to the collection and provide suggestion on helpful materials or by appointment.

Conversation groups are offered for those who wish to practice their English speaking and listening skills. Adults who wish to join a class should call (315)435-1835 for details.

Learn English to get a job or enter training/college programs.  Study reading, writing, and vocabulary.  Practice pronunciation and conversation.  All levels of classes.  Students can register at the class.

White Branch Library

Free Syracuse City School District English language classes will teach grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing so that non-native speakers will learn to more clearly and effectively communicate in everyday situations.

There are 3 separate classes that meet daily.

Monday – Friday
9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
