How can I connect to OCPL’s wireless?
First, check to make sure your wireless software and hardware are properly installed, and then turn on your computer.
If your laptop has the wi-fi adapter built in, it should find our network automatically. If not, set your SSID to “OCPL”. You will be asked for a password, which is ocplwireless – all one word, no capital letters.
Finally, open your browser software and surf the ‘net.
Where can I sit to pick up a stronger signal?
Signals are strongest on Level 2 near the elevators, Level 3 in the east or north ends, Level 4 in the Literacy area and in the Local History Room on Level 5.
Are there outlets available?
Electrical outlets are conveniently located along the atrium wall on Level 3 and on the central columns in the Local History Department on Level 5. However, not all tables are within reach of an outlet. As noted above, cords or wires may not block aisles or constitute a tripping hazard within the building.
Can I search the library’s catalog and databases?
You can search our catalog by pointing your browser to: www.onlib.org and choosing the “catalog” link. Likewise, our databases are available by choosing the “databases” link. You must have an OCPL borrower’s card to access some databases from your laptop.
Can I use sound?
Please either wear headphones when accessing audio files or mute your speaker so as not to disturb others nearby.
