1901: Donation of $200,000 from Carnegie Foundation follows lengthy solicitation by Mayor McGuire; collection divided among different downtown sites until new building opens

1901: Hon. Howard G. White donates volumes of early newspapers including the Syracuse Standard
- 1916 Annual Report

1902: Cornerstone of the new library containing such item as newspapers and 1902 silver coins laid on the site of the former library at Montgomery and Jefferson Sts.

North Side Branch, 19031903: North Side branch opens in the Odd Fellows Hall at the corner of Ash and Townsend streets under Miss Mary Schaefer in March
