1930: 164,966 books in collection; 3,450 daily circulation  
Post-Standard, Sept. 6, 1930

 

1930: Library service to area hospital patients commenced by Syracuse Public Library’s extension department   
- Herald, Mar. 1, 1931

 

1931: “Industrial Room” with technology and engineering books and magazines opens under former Solvay Process librarian Edith Schroeder       
- Herald, Sept. 19, 1931

 

1933: New information service for job seekers started with resources on vocations and local job initiated

1934: Talking book machines to be placed for loan at the Syracuse Public Library

1936:
With a staff of Works Progress Administration workers, “book messenger” service to shut-ins of all ages began, delivering over 400 books to home-bound patrons
