TeenWork - Autumn 2007

Because It Was Heard

When the diamonds fell from the sky
When the leaves on the trees began to joyfully cry

When the birds in the forest stopped singing and listened
When the grass on the ground shimmered and glistened

When the stars stopped their shining
When the clouds stopped their whining

When the little drops of rain stopped drumming
Because it was heard peace on earth was coming

When the snow melted into water
When the butterfly praised her daughter

When the earth began to tremble and shake
When the river flowed into the clear lake

When the moon and sun collided
When the little rabbit was misguided

When the hummingbirds stopped their humming
Because it was heard peace on earth was coming

When the trees extended their long branches
When the great prairies met the ranches

When the waves of the ocean waved
When the little chipmunks finally behaved

When the planets of space stopped their spinning
When the bald eagle started grinning

When the men finally began succumbing
Because it was heard peace on earth was coming
