TeenWork - Autumn 2007

Troubled Child

I am a troubled child
I wonder if life and earth will get better
            I hear negatives and disruption
I see violence and foul play
                        I want a better life

I am a troubled child
I pretend to be a non-troubled child when I am
I feel like an individual on the inside
I touch the words that are negative that I just want to crush
I worry that life will not ever get better
I cry out for help when I’m in trouble and can’t help myself

I am a troubled child
I understand life as it is given to me but want to change it
I say hurtful things but I take back every hurtful thing I say
I dream about life getting good but as I awake it’s the same
I try to wish and hope to get
I hope to get the gift and opportunity to a better life

I am a troubled child
