TeenWork - Autumn 2008

I Wonder If I’ll Ever Make It

I wonder if I’ll ever make it,
Be successful in life.
A beneficial occupation, with a nice home and a wife.
In reality things look bad,
But feel good in my soul.
Every time I’m close to making it,
Something blocks my goal.
The weather may be hot,
But the world is still cold.
Just like my age may be young,
But my mentality is old.
They say the ones you love,
May hurt you the most.
But anybody can hurt you,
Whether distant or close.
When an individual fails,
They look forward to blame the other kid.
I don’t blame society; I blame the government.
Everybody makes mistakes,
Just need to take responsibility.
Just watch and listen,
You’ll know what I mean.

- John Charles Frazier
