NEW IN CHILDREN’S WORLD! 

KITS FOR KIDS  

Kits were developed to help parents, teachers, and childcare providers develop early literacy skills to be sure children are READY TO READ once they begin school. 

Children who enter kindergarten should have the following pre-reading skills: 

  1. Knowing words and their meanings
  2. Enjoying books
  3. Noticing printed words
  4. Describing things and events
  5. Hearing the smaller sounds in words
  6. Knowing the names and sounds of letters
