ABOUT THE LIBRARY

The DeWitt Community Library was founded in 1962 by a group of dedicated individuals determined to bring library service to the residents of Dewitt. These volunteers started with 400 books and now, over thirty years later, our holdings include over 68,000 books, DVDs, CDs, videos, books on tape and compact disc, and magazines.

We are located across from Macy's in Shoppingtown Mall. The Library is closest to Entrance #4 or the main Mall entrance next to Macy's. Parking is available in the mall's parking garage or in the outdoor parking lot near Macy's. Click here for a map [PDF].

Our services include walk-in and telephone reference assistance; 9 public access internet and word processing computers; meeting rooms for public use; monthly book discussions for adults and teens; notary public; weekly story hours for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; children's craft programs, and summer reading clubs for children and teens.

Our library houses over 2,000 DVDs; over 3,000 videos; over 2,000 music CDs, and over 2,500 books on tape. We subscribe to over 100 magazines and newspapers and have access to over 115 periodicals through an internet service; our investment subscriptions include Value Line (Standard and Expanded editions) and Barron's.

Our Friends of the DeWitt Community Library (founded in 2000) consists of over 130 members who help support and promote our library's services, facilities, and needs.
