Onondaga County Public Libraries at the Galleries downtown will host the early black-and-white photographs of the late Marjory W. Wilkins, long-time community photographer, during February in honor of Black History Month. The group of photographs on view is entitled “A Tender Record” and comprises images of the Wilkins family and the old 15th Ward neighborhood made by Mrs. Wilkins between 1941 and 1989. In 2008, new master prints were made of these images after they were digitally restored at Light Work Gallery/Syracuse University under a grant project curated by Nancy Keefe Rhodes. “A Tender Record” has been exhibited at Light Work Gallery, ArtRage Gallery, the Community Folk Art Center and at Syracuse Stage.
