Programs on topics of interest to the job seeker including resume writing and interviewing, setting up email accounts in order to submit online job applications and more are offered at many . Call your Local Libraries. Check the Calendar of Events for upcoming library programs. 

Community Agencies also provide a variety of training programs.

A a support group for job hunters. Participants share job tips or unemployment advice, ask for feedback on their resume, and encourage each other.

Training Workshop: Uncovering the Hidden Job Market: Career Search Strategies using ReferenceUSA
Date: Wednesdays (January 11 – March 28)
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Location: Webinar from your home or office computer
Description:  Learn how to use the ReferenceUSA database as part of your Career Searching Strategy.  This free webinar includes information on the importance of having accurate information for applications and resumes, creating engaging cover letters, assembling a network of references and referrers, finding key persons at a business to act as mentors, building datasets of potential employers based on skill set, work history and preferences as well as how to prepare for interviews and interactions through thorough research.

Computer Training

Free one-on-one computer instruction as well as group computer classes are available at many of the local libraries. Improving your computer skills may help you secure a new job or open new opportunities for you at your present job.

 

The Central Library offers  classes designed to help individuals who have little or no knowledge of computers or computer programs.  Call 435-1900 for class schedules and registration, or information on how to make an individual appointment.

Topics covered include:

Check the OCPL Calendar of Events for information about computer training at other libraries. Limit your search to Computer Instruction to see what kinds of programs other libraries are offering.

 

Links to online Computer tutorials and local computer user groups are included on the Computer Internet Links page.

 

Find tutorials for all the Microsoft computer applications in the Learning Express database.  All you need is your OCPL library card to log in.
