Small Business Administration (SBA) offers useful information for starting a small business including a startup kit, financial assistance programs, publications, an outline for a business plan, and additional resources.  Also included is information about the Office of Women’s Business Ownership and the Office of Government Contracting and Business Development. The SBA offers free online courses on a variety of topics such as business start-up, business management, financing and accounting, marketing and government contracting

 

Business.gov is a federal initiative that provides a free, interactive search for business loans, grants and financing. By filling out the online form you can find available financing for your small business for which you may be eligible.

 

Inc. Magazine offers business advice for the entrepreneur that includes a How to Guide to Financing.

 

My Own Business, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to helping people succeed in business.  The organization offers a free, 12-session course intended for both start-up and already operating businesses.  The interactive website includes quizzes, feedback and a tool for creating your own business plan.

 

Housing & Urban Development – Syracuse  Tax benefits may be available for businesses that expand, start, or relocate to a HUD Empowerment Zone, an Enterprise Community, an Urban Renewal Community, or a Rural Community.

 

A relatively small number of foundations award program-related investments (PRIs), which most commonly are loans to for-profit or nonprofit entities for purposes closely related to a particular foundation's funding interests. The PRI directory : charitable loans and other program-related investments by foundations / compiled by the Foundation Center is available in the Nonprofit Resource Center reference collection.
