Where Can I Find Government Grants?
There is lots of information about federal government grants. Sorting through it all can be confusing and at times overwhelming.
A complete list of addresses and telephone and fax numbers for federal agencies, Congress, and nongovernmental organizations in Washington, D.C. can be found in the Washington Information Directory or go to USA.gov.
Information about state and municipal government funding opportunities is more difficult to track down. For further information, check with local government officials in the City of Syracuse , Onondaga County or your local Congressional office.

An annual publication listing all 1,796 federal financial and other domestic programs covering: grants and loans; personal payments, benefits and subsidies; fellowships, scholarships and traineeships; complaint investigation; sales and donations of federal property; over 4,000 addresses and phone numbers for program headquarters and field offices; agency index.

The majority of government grants are awarded to eligible nonprofit or business organizations and not to individuals. Government grants nearly always have stiff reporting requirements.
A unified, comprehensive web site that allows grantseekers to electronically find, apply for, and manage federal grants in one place. It encompasses over 900 grant programs offered by 26 federal grantmaking agencies. Managed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Grants.gov offers users "full service electronic grant administration" with guidelines and grant applications available online. You can search by agency, category, or browse the available grant opportunities.
In response to The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act or Recovery Act, Grant-making agencies are posting Recovery Act specific grant opportunities on Grants.gov. Go to Recovery.gov for detailed information about stimulus funding, specific state projects and more.
A government web site that provides the public with easy, one-stop access to all online U.S. federal government resources, including government benefits and grants information. USA.gov for Businesses includes business loans and grants, state programs, contract and tax information, and more. USA.gov for Nonprofits includes links to federal web sites and information about grant programs, by cabinet department and federal agency. Visitors can also search Notices of Funding Availability from the Federal Register.
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
This is the official federal document that describes all grant and loan programs in the U.S. The website includes a search engine. The most recent print copy is shelved in the Nonprofit Resource Center at the Central Library.
Search the full text of the Federal Register, Congressional Record, Congressional Bills and other federal government information online. Locate and download electronic information from numerous federal agencies.
RFPs from NYS and Federal agencies and a list of grant writing courses and seminars. Older issues are available online. Print issues are kept for two years in the Nonprofit Resource Center.
Focuses on access to the Department of Health and Human Service's hundreds of funding opportunities plus links to other government grants.
