Who We Are

OCPL Library Foundation membersThe Onondaga County Public Library Foundation was developed in 2005 to raise funds to support the mission and
activities of the OCPL system. The library system includes the central library, 10 branch locations and 20 member libraries. Each separately and together experience many needs that cannot be met through current resources. Our purpose is to improve and expand the services of the library system by making new sources of revenue available.

The OCPL Foundation Board is made up of interested members of the Central New York community, whose responsibility will be to ensure that the Foundation supports the goals and objectives of OCPL in all of its activities.

Our goal is to encourage "Giving for Lifelong Learning" in Onondaga County.

What We Support

Discovery Summer Initiative

Through organized field trips and related reading, families discover the connections between the printed word and local culture. Field trips originate at the libraries and include visits to area museums and historical sites. Our goal is to help prevent reading skills from declining in the summer months and to help families experience local culture together.

Youth Empowerment Initiative

Through the creative use of technology, the library will create attractive learning experiences for youth that expose them to life skills, job opportunities, and educational opportunities. Experiences will include poetry slams, high-interest authors, and science fiction events. Our goal is to provide support for programs that attract teenagers to the varied learning options at the library.

Special Collection Expansion

Unique collections at the Central Library, the city branches and suburban member libraries will be made accessible to the community. These unique collections include art works, historical memorabilia, geographic and genealogical resources. Our goal is to raise funds to organize these collections, publicize their availability, and allow Central New Yorkers with interests in these areas easy access to them.
