DIRECTIONS
Soule Branch is on the east side of Syracuse across from LeMoyne College. From 690, take the Thompson Road South exit. Cross Erie Boulevard East and come up the hill on Thompson Rd. At the first stop sign, turn right onto Springfield Rd. At the four way stop sign, turn left, staying on Springfield. Soule Library is on the right at the intersection of Salt Springs and Springfield Rds. The library parking lot entrance is on the right just before the library itself.

ABOUT THE LIBRARY
Soule Branch Library was named for Oscar F. Soule, a member of a prominent Syracuse family who was very active in the business and civic community. He was a trustee of the Syracuse Public Library from 1932, and President of its Board from 1952 until his retirement in 1968.

Soule Branch was dedicated on October 25, 1965, and opened for service to the public on November 8. It was open 48 hours a week and housed 13,000 books. Now, thirty-five years later, it is open 64 hours a week, including Sundays during the school year, and houses a collection including over 35,000 volumes, 3000 DVDs and videos, 1000 audiobooks, 500 CDs, and numerous newspaper and magazine subscriptions. Soule  also has special collections of Russian language and home schooling materials.

Soule Branch offers a variety of programs for adults, including computer instruction on a variety of related topics. The library hosts a Strawberry Festival annually in June. Used book sales take place in January and June each year.

Programs for children include weekly story times for both toddlers and preschoolers, as well as weekly literature and library-use programs for school age children. These are tailored for home schooling families, but all are welcome.

There is a Family Movie Night twice a month and during school breaks, featuring first run movies on a big screen and free popcorn. All ages are welcome and parents and guardians are encouraged to accompany children.

Monthly flyers, listing specific program titles including dates and times, are available at the library. Programs are also listed in the OCPL Events Calendar. Internet access and word processing computers are available for adults, young adults, and children.

Soule Branch has both a ramp and an automated front door, making it wheelchair accessible. Other features include a comfortable reading lounge, graced by stained glass window panels, a large community meeting room, and a photocopier. The branch also offers a Coffee Bar stocked with many different flavors of coffee and cappuccino, available for individual brewing at just 75 cents and $1.25 per cup.
