"Turning Real Life Into Fiction"

Followed by a book signing

Chris Crutcher is the award-winning author of several young adult novels. He is a distance runner, swimmer and many of his novels concern teenaged athletes who have personal problems. His writing has been frequently challenged and even banned. He received the National Intellectual Freedom Award in 1998 and has been honored twice by the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents. The American Library Association has named eight of his books "Best Books for Young Adults."

Banned Books Week Read-a-Thon

October 3rd ,2007
Central Library

Community leaders and library employees will read from their favorite banned or challenged book to celebrate the freedom to read in America. Each reader will chose a book from a list of banned or challenged books drawn from the American Library Association, as well as other sources.
