It's once again time for our favorite event of the year! Bring the whole family and help us welcome summer with a strawberry social on the library lawn. In addition to strawberries and ice cream, we will also have a used book sale, sidewalk chalk for kids (and kids at heart), and registration for our summer reading programs for children and adults. At 6:00 pm, we will have live music from R&B group The Meditations. You may bring a lawn chair or blanket if able (chairs will be provided for those who need them) and please bring cash and a reusable bag if you plan to shop the book sale. Stay for a few minutes or the whole evening!

About the Band:
The Meditations began in 1969 as teenagers with neighborhood friends and musicians Charles Yancey, Bass/vocals; "Cut" Works, Guitar; "Toody" Spivey, Drums/vocals; Carlos Occasio, Percussion/vocals; Carmen Miller; and Leon Spaights/percussion. They quickly gained notoriety, because they were able to cover all of the popular sounds of the day with precision and style. Their popularity led them to performance opportunities as opening acts for national recording artists, the Ohio Players, the Barkays and Rated X. The group stayed together for 29 years performing at various events before deciding to take a hiatus. That hiatus lasted for 23 years, until Charles and Toody decided to reform the group. The reformation brought two new singers, Desma Samson and Terry Cooper, to the bandstand, and keyboardist Terry Brown to complete their current line-up.
