Works Progress Administration (WPA) had projects created to ease the financial burdens of millions of unemployed Americans during the Great Depression. The Historical Records Survey was one part of the WPA and its purpose was to identify, collect, and conserve the United States' historical records. The records are tremendously useful to genealogists, but also underutilized. Learn how to find and use these records for your research.
