Biographical History

The Syracuse City Sunday School Association undertook a religious census of the city
of Syracuse on January 28, 1911. Census takers collected information on the
religious affiliation of households in the city of Syracuse. Each folder contains
households of the same religion. Listed are the names of the households, the number
of members of the household identifying with that religion, the address of that
household, and whether or not they are members of the Sunday School Association. The
intention of the census was to get an accurate picture of religions in the city of
Syracuse in 1911. The Sunday School Association hoped to use that information to
share with city pastors of the various religions to contact households to encourage
full fellowship with their church.
