Serving the Near Westside community of Syracuse, the Mundy Branch Library offers its patrons technology access and support, as well as educational programs for children and adults, while still maintaining traditional lending library services.

Named after Ezekiel Wilson Mundy - a city librarian from 1880, until retirement in 1916 - the library opened its doors in 1917, as a station in Salt City Store, located at 401 S. Geddes Street. Changing locations numerous times over the years, Mundy Branch Library moved to its permanent location - 1204 S. Geddes Street - in 1988. It currently serves the neighborhoods of the Westside, Southwest, and Strathmore area, while maintaining excellent relationships with the local schools, including Bellevue Elementary, Delaware Elementary, Roberts K-8, Seymour Dual Language, and Fowler High School.

Offering a wide array of popular books, magazines, DVDs, and more, the library has 20 public computers available to kid, teen, and adult patrons. In addition to meeting the everyday needs of its users, Mundy Branch also features monthly programs that focus on literacy skills, such as STEM activities, job and technology assistance, and storytimes. You can see our monthly newsletter for the most up-to-date program information.

The library has copy/scan/fax services, free internet access, and Microsoft Office on its public PCs. Those in need of additional assistance are invited to sign-up for a one-on-one with the librarian, to receive support with personal computers, tablets, resumes, and more. Parents and daycare providers are encouraged to attend the weekly storytimes with their 0 - 5 year olds.

The community room, which boasts room for up to 37 people and an interactive SMARTboard, is available for public use and free of charge, and is frequently used by local organizations for their monthly meetings. During open hours, the library is a hub of activity, and those in need of a quieter place to concentrate are welcome to use the Quiet Room, equipped with charging ports and privacy walls.
