Librarian 1 examination (Training and Experience Questionnaires) is a part of the continuous recruitment program and application will be accepted on a continuous basis and will be rated in January, June, and September of each year. Only those applications received by the 15th of the above listed months will be rated. See OCPL's Public Librarianship brochure [PDF] for information on a career as an OCPL librarian. For all other job titles, look for the examination announcement for the title.
(Note: County Personnel Department will not offer Librarian 1 exams in 2011; this will be reevaluated at the end of 2011 to see how many candidates still remain on the eligible list and when they should start the program. The New York State Department of Civil Service has instituted a new testing program for entry level librarians; however, they are not allowing municipalities inter-mingle the candidates from the existing list and from the new exam, and there are still many names on the current eligible lists. Please contact Onondaga County Personnel Department at 435-3537 for any updates. – posted 1/12/11)
