Reading to dogs can boost reading skills in children as well as help with emotional and social skills. OCPL offers the following read to a dog opportunities:

Enjoy reading a story to Cooper, a trained, lovable dog certified as a Canine Good Citizen.  For ages 6 -12.

Onondaga Free Library

Once a month, date varies.

Read to a dog from Paws of CNY. Read your favorite story, practice jokes from a joke book, or share a true book about a topic that interests you. There will be five 10-minute reading sessions during the hour. For ages 6-10.

Salina Library

3:30 PM, 1st Monday of Each Month

Beginning readers, struggling readers, and those who are working on improving their reading skills will all have fun working with therapy dog, Mollie! Each child gets 15 minutes to read with Mollie, with her trainer nearby.Registration required. Free.
