Read to A Therapy Dog
Reading to dogs can boost reading skills in children as well as help with emotional and social skills. OCPL offers the following read to a dog opportunities:
Read to Daisy
For all ages (1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month)
Stop in or call the library to make an appointment with Daisy.
Read to A Dog @ Central
Olive is Central Library's reading therapy dog from Pet Partners of CNY.
She is trained to sit and listen patiently as children read stories to her.
Wednesday July 20th, July 27 and Tuesdays in August

Saturday Stories With Cooper
Enjoy reading a story to Cooper, a trained, lovable dog certified as a Canine Good Citizen.
For ages 6 -12.

Paws to Read
Paws to Read is a long-standing program at the Liverpool Public Library, at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays in the Children's Room.
Children can sign up when they arrive to read to a friendly dog from PAWS of CNY, Inc.
Family members are encouraged to get involved as well.

Reading to Moose
Fridays, July 15, 29 & August 12 at 11am
Award winning and retired local news personality Laura Hand and her PAWS of CNY therapy-certified dog, Moose, are coming to OFL to help kids read! Simply pick out a book, grab your spot in line, and read to Moose! Practice makes perfect and reading is no different, but it sure is a lot more fun with a cute and friendly pomeranian!
Recommended for kids entering grades K-4. No registration required- First come, first serve.

Chewbacca is a gentle and sweet therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. Drop in at the library to meet Chewbacca, read him a short story from our collection, and soak up all his peaceful doggie vibes. Location: Library Hall. For kids beginning to read independently to age 18.
Read to Chuck the Service Dog

Children and families are invited to come visit with Chuck the chocolate lab.
Practice reading to this patient pooch, and find out more about life with a service dog.
