Read to A Therapy Dog

Reading to dogs can boost reading skills in children as well as help with emotional and social skills.

OCPL offers the following read to a dog opportunities:

One-on-One Sessions with Willow, Reddi, and Addie

Willow, the therapy dog, visits Baldwinsville Library. Baldwinsville Public Library

Register for a one-on-one session with one of B-Ville's therapy dogs:  Willow (shown here), Reddi, and Addie.

Registration is requested; walk-ins are usually okay. 

  • Willow comes twice a month until the end of April, then returns in late summer. Usually Thursdays, from 4 p.m. -5 p.m.
  • Reddi visits once a month, on Saturdays, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Addie stops by once a month, on Thursdays, from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

George, the therapy dog, visits Brewerton NOPL once a month with his two humans.Read to George

Come meet George and his humans Alan and Christy.

George loves a good story so join us for a pup-tacular chance to practice your
reading skills, or just stop by to say hello and give him a belly rub! All are welcome. Typically, the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10:30 - 11:30 am.

Holly, the therapy dog, visits Betts Branch and is a Bernese Mountain Dog.Read to Holly

Betts Branch Library

Holly, a Bernese Mountain Dog, is from Paws of CNY.

She visits Betts on the third Saturday of each month at 2:00 p.m.

Molly, the therapy dog, visits Central Library.Read to A Dog @ Central

Central Library

Molly, a German Shepherd Hound mix, is Central Library's reading therapy dog.

She visits once a month, on a Saturday, and hangs out in the Laptop Lap by KidSpace, on the 2nd floor.

Saturday Stories With Cooper

Hazard Branch Library

Enjoy reading a story to Cooper, a trained, lovable dog
certified as a Canine Good Citizen. 

For ages 6 -12.

Cooper visits Hazard one Saturday a month.

Liverpool Public Library

Paws to Read is a long-standing program at 10 a.m. Saturdays
in the Children's Room.

Children can sign up when they arrive to read to a friendly dog
from PAWS of CNY, Inc.

Family members are encouraged to get involved as well.
