Catholic Charities After School and Summer Programs, Onondaga County

  • Offers after school and summer programs for children in several locations around Syracuse

Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse

  • Provides after school enrichment programs for children and teens

Neighborhood Recreation Centers

Assumption Church Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen

  • Provides food parcels once a month to families that equal 9 meals.
  • Open 9:30 to 12:30 Monday through Friday, must bring photo ID and proof of address.
  • Soup kitchen offers free bagged lunch to anyone, no questions asked.
  • No proof of residence required.
  • Open Monday through Sunday from 11am-1pm, and Monday through Friday 4pm-5pm

Saint Lucy’s Church Food Pantry

  • Client choice pantry, opens at 11am Tuesday through Thursday, and Sunday

Saint Margaret’s Food Pantry

  • Food pantry open Monday through Thursday, also provides personal care items, pet food, and SNAP counseling.

Saint Paul’s Food Pantry

Southwest Community Center Services

  • Food Pantry, After School meals and diaper bank

  • Food Pantry Hours: Offered the first and last Tuesday of the month, 10am – 1pm
  • Fresh food giveaway on the third Friday of every month, starts around 1pm. Provides fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole grains.

University United Methodist Church

  • Clothes closet and food pantry open from 10am until noon.
  • A bagged bagel breakfast is served every Sunday morning at the corner of 1085 E. Genesee Street and University Ave from 9 AM – 10:30 AM
  • The Food Center is at 324 University Ave, Fridays 10-12.

American Red Cross

  • Provides disaster relief to those in need, including food, shelter, and medical care. Contact (315) 234-2200 for assistance, available 24/7.
  • Free smoke detectors and other fire safety materials available for by request.
  • Emergency training courses available.

Center for Community Alternatives

  • Organization that seeks to reduce community dependence on incarceration. Provides assistance to youth at risk, families in crisis, those who were incarcerated, as well as sentence mitigation.

  • 24 hour telephone service handled by Upstate Hospital, assists people concerned about potential poisonings.

Westcott Community Center

  • Provides services for the public including a computer lab, National Grid consumer advocacy, a farmers market, lawyer clinic, and services for seniors.

Adolescent Health Initiative

  • Provides STI and HIV testing, preventative services, and educational programs for young adults aged 18-22, including services for LGBTQ young adults.

The STD Center

  • Provides STD testing, no one turned away for inability to pay and no appointments necessary.   

Home Assistance

Energy & Housing, PEACE, Inc.

  • Helps make homes more energy efficient to reduce energy bills.
  • Open Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

Home Energy Assistance Program

  • Provides assistance with energy and heating costs for low income houses, as well as repairing and replacing heating equipment. Must apply at the link below.

Senior Assistance

Canton Woods Senior Center

  • Serves those over 60 living in Baldwinsville , Lysander, and Van Buren.
  • Offers activities and assistance.

Camillus Senior Citizens Center

  • Serves as a gathering place for the community’s seniors, offering activities as well as resources for senior related issues.

Westcott Community Center, Senior Services

  • Offers lunch at noon Monday through Friday for seniors, suggested donation of $3, no one is turned away.
