A conversation at the Fairmount School PTA meeting in 1955 was the beginning of today's Fairmount Community Library. The library received an official charter from the State in November of 1956, and it opened its doors April of 1957.

The library has changed its location twice and remodeled twice to meet the needs of the community.

The Fairmount Library offers an open and friendly atmosphere. We encourage the beliefs that information, education and entertainment are necessary for the full development of an individual's character.
