History

Hazard Branch Library is situated on the northeast edge of historic Tipperary Hill and has been serving the West Side of Syracuse for over 100 years along the West Genesee Street corridor. In 1968 Hazard moved to its current location at 1620 West Genesee Street in a building constructed especially for the library and designed in the mid-century modern style.

Collection

Along with thousands of books, magazines, DVDs, and music CDs we have book club kits and a toy lending library.

Events & Programs

The library also offers programs for children, teens, and adults on a wide range of topics. Library staff offers one-on-one computer training, as well as resume and job application help.

Technology

Hazard also features six public Internet computers for adults, and two each for teens and children.  A free wifi signal is also available to anyone using a personal electronic device. Free device charging stations are conveniently situated in the periodicals reading lounge.

Building & Facilities

Hazard Branch includes a large 68-person meeting room that is directly accessible from the main parking lot. The room is available during library hours, by reservation, at no charge to not-for-profit groups.

Handicapped parking is available in the front of the building off of side street Emerson Avenue with direct and flat access to the library’s entrance.

Our book return is located in the back of the building near the main parking lot and is available 24 hours a day.
