When does the program start?

  • September 8th, 2026 to coincide with National Library Card Sign-up Month!

Why is OCPL launching a passport?

  • Inspired by 7 year old Lincoln's visit to all OCPL in the summer of 2024 and similar passport initiatives in other library systems, OCPL decided that there should be a fun, engaging way to encourage our patrons to visit all 32 of our library locations.  There is something unique and memorable about each library, and we challenge you to visit them all!

Where can I get OCPL: The Passport cards and a tracker?

  • You can stop into any of OCPL's 32 locations to collect your first card and pick up a tracker.  It does not matter which library you choose to visit first (or last!).

Are all 32 OCPL member libraries participating?

How does visiting a library as part of the Passport program work?

  • Visit the Welcome Desk and let the staff member know that you are participating in the Passport Program.  If it is your first library, they will give you a tracker.
  • Ask them what is special about their library and what you should be sure not to miss.
  • The staff member will place a sticker on that library to mark it off in your passport, and they will give you the Passport trading card.
  • Enjoy the library (and borrow some books or other items)!

How will I keep track of what libraries I have visited?

  • Library staff will place a sticker on your tracker to mark off libraries as you visit them.
  • Don't forget to bring your tracker!

What happens if I lose a card or my tracker?

  • If you lose you tracker, you have to get a new one and start all over again.
  • If you lose a card and would like a new one, you will have to visit that library again.

Are these Passport cards collectible or can we play with them?

  • Both!  The Passport cards are a unique collectible with a fun fact about your favorite libraries.
  • The Passport cards are also compatible with Reading Dragons, which is an initiative created by the Dover Public Library to use playable trading cards to incentivize reading for kids.  The Passport cards feature a Fire, Leaf, or Water sign, as do Reading Dragons cards, making the cards compatible for play.

Do I have to visit all 32 libraries to complete the program?

  • To complete the program, you need to collect at least 30 of 32 cards from our member libraries.  Outreach cards do not count towards this total.

What do I get once I have completed the program?

  • You will receive a limited edition OCPL vinyl sticker.

How will I receive my sticker?

  • Use this form to let us know that you completed the program!  A member of our team will contact you to arrange delivery.

This is a hit with my family!  Where else can we collect cards?

  • Come find the OCPL table at events throughout the community and collect our special "Outreach Cards"!  Just look for the green table cloth and tent!
  • Ask our delivery drivers!
  • Some libraries, such as Skaneateles Library, Mundy Branch Library, and all of our city branch locations, offer Reading Dragons cards as incentives for their Summer Reading Program.

When does the program end?

  • You have until December 31, 2027 to visit all of our libraries and collect all of your cards!
