What is a Mental Health Backpack Kit?

This is a special kit that can be checked out to library patrons and includes resources and books on several mental health topics. Topics include depression, anxiety, fear, grief, bullying, and many more. These backpacks also include self-care resources such as mindfulness and meditation, yoga poses, and journaling prompts. The backpack can be a helpful resource and also remind us to unpack some of what we are carrying around in our “emotional backpacks.”

How do I check one out?

Mental Health Backpacks are available for 3-week loan at all of our city libraries, with one renewal available if there are no holds on the item. We have backpacks available for children, tweens, teens, and adults. Check our online catalog for topics and locations by visiting our catalog and using the search term “mental health backpack”. These backpacks are able to be held for pickup at any location in OCPL.
