(Formerly Foundation Directory Online, Foundation Grants to Individuals and GuideStar)

The Candid Search database is licensed for use exclusively as part of the Nonprofit Resource Center and is available for in-library use only at the Central Library.

Candid provides access to information on more than 1.9 million nonprofits and 304,000 grantmakers, as well as over 29 million grant records. These resources support users in identifying nonprofits to support, locating essential services, finding grant opportunities, and connecting with funders working to strengthen communities.

The database offers comprehensive, in-depth profiles of U.S. grantmakers and their funding activities, drawing on reliable sources such as IRS Form 990s, grantmaker websites, annual reports, and data provided directly by foundations. It also powers a network of more than 200 giving platforms, corporate giving programs, and donor-advised funds, ensuring timely and trustworthy funding information.

In addition, Candid includes resources for individual grantseekers, allowing users to search detailed profiles of foundations and public charity programs that support students, artists, researchers, and other individuals. Funding opportunities span areas such as educational support, scholarships and student loans, arts and cultural initiatives, professional development, and general welfare.
