Libraries Accepting Charitable Donations 2023

'Tis the giving season...find a library in Onondaga County where you can donate items and give back to your community! 

December / January / Year-round Collections

Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville 

  • Warm clothing items  
  • Support the Rescue Mission’s street outreach program!
  • The Community Library of Jamesville & DeWitt will have a donation bin for warm items such as socks, gloves, and hats.
  • Day-to-day items such as underwear and other clothing donations will also be accepted. 

Through December  

Petit Branch 

  • Bedding, household, toiletries, and cleaning supplies  
  • Petit Branch is hosting a donation drive for Housing Vision’s Veteran Move-In housing program.
  • The library is collecting new items for move-in packages distributed to new tenants in need.
  • The library will collect items until the new year.  

December 1 - December 20

Paine Branch 

  • Mittens, hats, and socks  
  • Paine Branch puts up their traditional Mitten Tree for the giving season.
  • Join Paine’s Knitting Club in decorating the tree by donating mittens, hats, and socks.
  • These items are hung on the tree’s branches until it’s time to deliver the items to the local food pantry in Eastwood.

Through December

Manlius Library 

  • Socks and underwear
  • Manlius Library is collecting new socks and underwear for Grace Abounds. 

Soule Branch Library

  • Non-perishable food and personal care items like diapers, feminine products, soap and toothpaste for the Eastside Boys and Girls Club pantry.

Through January

East Syracuse Free Library

  • Winter clothing items
  • The East Syracuse Free Library is accepting donations for new or gently used winter items such as coats, gloves, scarves, hats, and socks. 
  • All donations will go to the St. Matthews Second Time Around Store/Food Pantry.

Manlius Library

  • Household items
  • Manlius Library is collecting household items to benefit PEACE, Inc. 
  • The library is accepting all-purpose household cleaner, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, cleaning sponges/scrubbers, dish soap, trash bags, glass cleaner, gloves, toilet bowl cleaner, disinfectant wipes and spray.

February

Manlius Library

  • Toy drive for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)
  • Manlius Library is collecting new, unwrapped toys for babies, kids, and teens. 
  • Some of the items you can donate include teething toys, baby dolls, Lego kits, cars & trucks, board games, magnetic tiles, blocks, crafts for teens, play food, and play tool kits.

Year-round collections

Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville 

  • Hygiene items and toiletries  
  • The library accepts individually packaged hygiene items to help fellow library users in need.
  • Toothbrushes, nail clippers, tissues, and other hygiene products will go towards their long-term project of outfitting the library’s bathrooms with “hygiene pockets.”

East Syracuse Free Library 

  • Non-perishable food and other grocery items
  • The East Syracuse Free Library is a drop-off sight for non-perishable food items and other grocery items such as cleaning products, soaps, shampoo and paper products.
  • All items will be donated to the library's local food pantries.

Manlius Library

  • Diapers and non-perishable food
  • Manlius Library is collecting diapers for the Calvary Club for the CNY Diaper Bank.
  • The library is also collecting non-perishable food for the F-M Food Pantry.

Mundy Branch Library

  • Warm clothes
  • Hats and mittens/gloves
  • For kids through adult
  • Accepting year-round, especially in winter
