History

Baldwinsville Public Library is nestled in the heart of the Village of Baldwinsville in the Town of Lysander and serves the Baldwinsville Central School District which includes the Town of Van Buren. In 1948, the library opened its doors for the first time in two rooms of the old trolley station, at 10 East Genesee Street, that served as the Lysander Town Building. By the early nineties the library had grown in terms of usage and the variety of services being offered.

In October 1995, over 2,500 people participated in the Grand Opening of the new library at 33 East Genesee Street. Since that date, the library has endeavored to keep up with the increased needs and demands of the Baldwinsville community. July of 2023 saw the grand reopening of the children’s corner. The Maryella and Elizabeth’s Children’s Corner is named in memory of two girls who were great library patrons.

The library has partnered with the Town of Lysander Parks and Recreation and the family of Maryella and Elizabeth Annal to install a rotating "stroll into a story" experience in Lysander Town Park featuring a special picture book which is divided into its pages weatherproofed and attached to posts so that visitors can progress through the story as they walk on the path experiencing nature and reading at the same time.
