 | NFB-NEWSLINE is a free audio news service for anyone who is blind, low-vision, deafblind, or otherwise print-disabled that offers access to Breaking News. In order for persons with visual impairments to access this audio news and information service they must first apply to be registered with the National Federation of the Blind Newsline service. They may do this in several ways but the simplest is to call 1-866-504-7300. A real person will answer the call and help them apply. Patrons need to provide verification of disability in order to be eligible. They may use verification already on file with agencies like the NYS Commission for the Blind or the NYS Talking Book and Braille Library in Albany. Once a person is registered, they will be provided with a local phone number to call and their own unique access code to use. The “Breaking News on Corona Virus” may be found by pressing 5 on the phone keypad for newspapers from other states and then 1 for breaking news. |
